The English are MAD!

I finally made Sophie, my French neighbour, certain beyond any doubt that the English are mad yesterday when I explained that our coq is called Eric after Eric Cantona - she said, "You give your poultry NAMES??????!!!!"

Catching Up

Oh my - I must blog more often!  We've had an awful spring here in France - cold and rainy - I think everyone everywhere has been suffering.  However it now feels like summer with a temp of 26 degrees today and I have been swimming in our pool nearly every day for over a week.  I don't mind too much if the water is a bit chilly - I find it rather refreshing. 

Still really enjoying Tag Tuesday and am very happy to have been asked to set the themes to follow on from our alphabet challenge.  Lots of new people joining - some great talent - check it out www.tagtuesday.BlogSpot

La Fête du Muguet

My lovely neighbour, Claudette, has just called round to give me a beautiful bunch of lily of the valley (muguet).  This is a French tradition each first of May, when these beautiful flowers are given to friends and loved ones to bring them luck and happiness throughout the coming year.  Just love living in France!

New members of the family (or should I say ZOO!)

Hello everyone.  Thought you would like to see some of our new family! Now I know I said we were getting four hens but we now have five and one cockerel!  The two extra ones were a present from me to John for our silver wedding.  I saw a hen and a cockerel for sale at a farmers'  market nearby and I couldn't resist.  The breed was described as argente (silver)!  Haad to be, didn't it!!  Here is Eric with two of his lady friends and also an egg just laid.  Need to start baking - don't know what to do with them all!!

Hi there!  Hen pen finished at last!  Off to pick up four chickens to be known as Ethel, Marjorie, Doris and Edna (after John's Mum and her three sisters!)  Hope the dogs and cats behave!
