Joyeuses Paques

Bonjour!

I know, I know - worst blogger in the world - nearly a year without a post!

Since I was last here we have had a new member of the family!  Meet Molly, our Golden retriever puppy:

She joins Flynn and Louis (flat coat retrievers) , Kofi and Bertie (the cats) and eight hens plus Eric, the cockerel!  Needless to say we love her to bits and she has already become a character!

I sincerely hope to post more often this year and share our experiences of living in S.W. France and some of my crafty stuff.

Yesterday we walked down the track to the lake with the dogs to find our French neighbours at the bottom armed with the picnic of all picnics!  They were having a fishing fest (carp) and had all the food you could imagine plus red and white wine (their own vintage) plus a hefty bottle of Ricard!  We joined them in a glass of red and then carried on with our walk in the lovely sunshine.  Sometimes it takes the small things to make you appreciate the bigger things in life.

I will be back soon!

Growing time!

Bonjour!

The growing season is well and truly under way here in the Lot et Garonne.  DH is working on his vegetable garden from dawn to dusk, digging, rotavating, weeding and planting.  Tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, beans, carrots, lettuce, beetroot, aubergines, courgettes, potatoes, cabbage are all in.  Melons next.  I picked my first bowl of strawberries today, yum!  The raspberry canes are doing well as all are the cherry trees and, for once, we are going to have a bumper crop of apricots.  I think we need to open a market stall lol!!!

I am back crafting again after a nasty injury to my thumb.  This is the tag I made this week for Tag Tuesday on the theme of Wild Flowers:

Tag Tuesday

Hope to be back blogging more regularly from now on!

Thanks for dropping by.

A bientôt

Washing Stones

Oh my, I am such a bad blogger - no posts for months!!  Today I want to share some pictures of a cave near where I live that has fresh water running through it.  Inside is a series of washing stones where the women of the hamlet used to come to wash their clothes and linen in days gone by.  If you look carefully you will see the two indentations for the knees on the top of each stone and then the ridges cut into the stone to provide some friction when rubbing the clothes.  If you catch the light at the right time of day it produces coloured dancing lights on the walls of the cave which the local children believe to be fairies!  How magical!

Harvesting

Bonjour!
I am sitting in my studio and it is dusk.  The combine harvester is cutting the barley in the field 20 m in front of me.  Almost surreal,  this huge machine with its headlights roaring towards me! Sadly it has just ploughed through all the stray sunflowers self seeded from last years crop that I was going to fill my vases with!  Must be quicker off the mark.  The farmer is sitting high up in his cab accompanied by his small son - love that the future of this beautiful rural corner of S W France is passed from generation to generation.
Bonne nuit

OMG!!!!

I had a VERY nasty experience last week.  I was swimming along quite happily in our pool when I suddenly realised I had company!!  A VIPER!!  I have never moved so fast in my life and even managed to climb out of the deep end without the aid of any steps!!
